Welcome Home

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is about helping you to live independently, with the right support.

SIL supports are commonly provided in a share-house setting. We can arrange for you to join a house of like-minded people to build friendships and share supports, based on your care ratio. For Care’s SIL homes are always well-appointed with quality furnishings and décor, and conveniently located near shops, services and public transport.

Independence, Control and Reliable Supported Independent Living

Living in a SIL house arrangement is a great way to gain independence, learn life skills, and have control over your own decisions and the way you live your life.

If this is your first move out of the family home, your SIL team can support you to develop the skills you need to take care of yourself, such as cooking for yourself and others, and budgeting for shopping and bills. Read more here about what SIL support covers.

Or, if you usually rely on a loved one for day-to-day care, you may consider SIL as a way to combine independence with access to professional care and support. We are committed to creating a solution that suits you – talk to us about finding accommodation close to your family and support network.

Am I Eligible for Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living, known as SIL, is a type of NDIS Home and Living funding, for people with higher support needs, who need a significant amount of care each day. This includes overnight support.

The journey to gaining approval for Supported Independent Living funding in your NDIS plan can take a few months – but you’ll have a few key people to help you out along the way! Read our guide to accessing Supported Independent Living.

Your Trusted SIL Team

When you invite a support team into your home, you need to know they’re people you can trust.

Every For Care SIL support worker must pass a police background check.

All have (or are actively working toward) qualifications in care, including a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support, and many have higher tertiary qualifications as well.

We also provide our SIL team with extensive specialised training and continuous upskilling, with a strong focus on upholding customer’s rights, choice and control.
